The other night I lay in my bed with Cade and Carlee piled on top of me. We were just laying there having a nice talk. Then I told them that I was happy Spring Break had just started and we were going to have over 2 weeks to be together and do lots of fun things.
I said, "I'm sad that I will be gone to New York for the 2nd week of the break, but Daddy will be home with you the whole time." Cade jumped up off me, sat up, and boldly said, "Hey that's not fair, Mom."
I immediately thought he was going to say that it wasn't fair that I got to go to New York and they didn't.
So I asked him what wasn't fair.
He said, "How come you get to say the word 'BUTT' if it's a bad word?"
When I said it I didn't emphasize the word or anything. I barely realized that I had said it until he brought it to my attention.
Carlee and I were laughing so hard. I had to explain to him that I wasn't talking about our bum and I repeated what I had said so he understood it.

Geez, how do kids' little ears hear the things they aren't supposed to?
I don't even want to know what the 'big kids' are saying on the bus. I tell my kids to close their ears to that type of ugly talk but apparently Cade hears it quite easily.
SHEESH!
